Understanding Events

PaySeats is designed for the experience economy. Unlike a traditional store that sells "products," you sell time and access. We model this using two core concepts: Event Series and Event Dates.

The Event Series (What are you selling?)

Think of the Series as the "Master File" for your event. It holds the information that doesn't change from day to day.

  • Title & Description: e.g., "Intro to Pottery" or "Friday Night Salsa".
  • Images: The promotional artwork.
  • Base Settings: Default duration, age restrictions, and categories.

When you update the Series, those changes propagate to future dates automatically.

The Event Date (When is it happening?)

An Event Date is a specific occurrence on the calendar. Only these "Dates" can be booked by customers.

  • Start & End Time: The precise window of access.
  • Status: You can mark a specific date as Canceled or Sold Out without affecting the rest of the series.
  • Overrides: You can change the pricing or capacity for a specific popular date (e.g., "Saturday Night" vs "Tuesday Morning").

Example Structure

  • Series: "Summer Music Festival"
    • Date 1: Friday, July 12th @ Main Stage
    • Date 2: Saturday, July 13th @ Main Stage (can have different pricing)

Categories & Discovery

To help customers find what they are looking for, you can tag events with Categories.

  • Tree Structure: Categories are hierarchical (e.g., Music > Jazz, Classes > Pottery).
  • Filtering: The storefront automatically generates filters based on your category tree.

Internationalization (i18n)

PaySeats is built for a global audience. Every text field in an Event Series (Title, Description, etc.) supports multi-language translations out of the box. You can sell tickets to English speakers and Spanish speakers simultaneously from the same inventory.
